Episode 36 - The Daveman Steveth

I'm sorry for the title, I didn't sleep well.

Hey, the Iceman!

The Iceman is based on an actual Japanese pilot, Hiroyoshi Nishizawa, at least it seems that way.

For one of the second half of season 2 episodes, this one is fine. Not much Jeb, and not much 'Pappy's Lambs' either.

Lard is cool again. It's a shame what they did to the show, as Lard's character is finally getting dimension.

Speaking of Lard, Dana Elcar directed this one.

No newsreel this week.

TO HELL WITH THE REGS! THERE'S A WAR GOING ON!

Some nice aerial footage mixed with stock stuff this week as well.

I almost forgot to mention how great the performance by Richard Jaeckel in this one.

Episode 35 - Steve and Dave are Often Called Fighting Angels

Look, now they're even putting "Angels" in the title.

What's next, Pappy to be replaced by John Forsyth?

The real story of US Navy nurses during WW2 is one of bravery, selflessness, heroism, professionalism and over all bad assery.  Unlike say Pappy's freaking Lambs.

Micklin and Lard are real marines.

We like both Micklin and Lard in this episode.  They have something to do and are competent, unlike everyone else.

Steve and I kinda have soured on the series if you've noticed....

OK, why are the National Liberation Front of Vietnam there?  Oh, you may know them by their informal name, the VC.  WHAT THE HELL ARE THE VC DOING ON THE ISLAND?

Of course they kill off the one interesting nurse, the one competent one, the one whose actor was decent...

I think I remember the cross thing from the book.

I wish I could say they get better.  OK, there is one coming that's better.
